My Initial Bitcoin Secures $1M Funding for BTC Education

Empowering Global Bitcoin Education: My First Bitcoin Receives Major Funding Boost

In a significant advancement for accessible education in the cryptocurrency sphere, the non-profit entity My First Bitcoin (MFB) has been awarded a substantial donation to further its mission of imparting independent Bitcoin (BTC) knowledge across the globe.

$1 Million Grant Fuels Bitcoin Education Revolution

Recently, My First Bitcoin announced the remarkable acquisition of a $1 million grant from Jack Dorsey’s philanthropic endeavor, #startsmall. This financial boost empowers the Central American organization to enhance its grassroots Bitcoin education initiatives on a global scale. Founded in El Salvador in 2021, MFB, also known as Mi Primer Bitcoin, is dedicated to disseminating BTC knowledge through diverse programs and its signature Bitcoin Educators Unconference, which unites enthusiasts and industry leaders.

The grant is set to accelerate MFB’s efforts in developing and distributing free, open-source Bitcoin educational materials and infrastructure. This will significantly enhance existing resources such as the Bitcoin Diploma, the BTC Intro Course, and specialized teacher training workshops. Furthermore, this financial aid will facilitate the expansion of MFB’s digital platforms, including its Online School and Community Hub.

In 2022, MFB introduced its BTC Diploma program to broaden BTC education on topics like the history of fiat money, the evolution of BTC, and the complexities of the leading cryptocurrency. This initiative has reached tens of thousands of students in El Salvador and beyond, with the 2023 workbook translated into 23 languages and independently taught from South America to Asia.

In collaboration with El Salvador’s Ministry of Education, MFB aims to integrate the BTC diploma curriculum into the nation’s public education system by 2024. The organization also launched the Independent Bitcoin Educators Node Network in 2023, fostering a space where individuals can align with MFB’s mission. This network, encompassing over 65 projects from more than 35 countries, operates autonomously while receiving support from MFB.

Enhancing Transparent Bitcoin Education

In its Education Manifesto, MFB highlights the shortcomings of the fiat world’s education system, describing it as “corrupted and misused” with a flawed incentive structure. In stark contrast, MFB advocates for Bitcoin education funding that is transparent, independent, impartial, community-driven, and decentralized.

Viewing the grant from #startsmall as a major triumph for Bitcoin and independent BTC education, MFB is poised to serve the global community more effectively than ever. The organization remains committed to public service, emphasizing transparency and community involvement in its endeavors.

John Dennehy, the founder and Executive Director of MFB, asserts that the revolutionary aspect of Bitcoin education lies in teaching students how to think critically rather than dictating what to think. He cautions against funding sources with ulterior motives, which could undermine the integrity of Bitcoin education.

Arnold Hubach, MFB’s Director of Communications, states, “Open-source money deserves open-source education.” He emphasizes the growing global demand for MFB’s resources and reaffirms their commitment to supporting everyone in the Bitcoin ecosystem. Hubach concludes that the grant will enable MFB to plan strategically for the future and continue being a premier provider of free educational tools.
