Binance Expands Bitcoin Options Writing to All Users Amid Surging Demand
In response to the rising interest in strategic trading tools among retail investors, Binance, a leading cryptocurrency exchange, has broadened its Bitcoin (BTC) options writing capabilities to encompass all users. This expansion, as reported by Finbold on August 4, aims to provide more robust trading alternatives to the growing crypto community.
Enhanced Trading Strategies and Opportunities
The newly accessible option writing capabilities empower users to articulate their market perspectives, manage risks effectively, earn additional income, and optimize returns through advanced options writing strategies. This goes beyond the conventional long or short market positions, offering a more nuanced approach to trading.
Remarkable Growth in Bitcoin Options Trading
The Bitcoin options trading landscape has witnessed an extraordinary surge, with volumes escalating from a mere $4.11 billion in 2020 to a staggering $138.76 billion by June 2025. This remarkable 3200% increase over five years highlights the growing interest and confidence in these financial instruments. As a result, a wider range of users can now engage in complex trading strategies, including employing options in conjunction with futures contracts to hedge risks and maximize profits.
Meeting the Demand for Advanced Trading Tools
Jeff Li, VP of Product at Binance, emphasized the exchange’s commitment to meeting the escalating demand for sophisticated trading tools. “Our derivatives products are utilized globally by users seeking liquidity and hedging solutions at competitive prices. Our Bitcoin options products are designed to cater to the burgeoning retail demand for advanced trading options,” he stated. With the accelerating adoption of cryptocurrencies, there is an increasing need for more refined liquidity tools, and Binance is dedicated to expanding its suite of derivative products to fulfill these needs.
Incentives and Improved Programs for Traders
In celebration of the launch, Binance is offering all users a 20% discount on Taker and Maker trading fees for newly listed Options contracts, including those for ETH, BNB, and SOL. Additionally, the exchange has enhanced its Options Enhanced Program, benefiting high-volume and institutional traders with more favorable maker/taker fees, reduced qualification thresholds, and extended grace periods for onboarding.
Robust Risk Management and Accessibility
Binance has implemented rigorous risk management protocols, necessitating option writers to post margin as collateral. Moreover, users must undergo a mandatory suitability assessment to gain access to Binance Options products. This ensures that participants are well-equipped to engage in options trading responsibly.
USDT as Collateral and Settlement Asset
The BTC Options utilize USDT both as collateral and the settlement asset, featuring a contract unit of 1 with strike intervals ranging from ±0.05 to ±0.95 delta. The platform provides daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly expiration options, with all contracts expiring at 08:00 UTC on their respective dates. Transaction fees are competitively set at 0.03%, and exercise fees are pegged at 0.015%.
Future Expansion Plans
Looking ahead, Binance plans to extend options writing access to additional tokens, such as ETH, for all users. This expansion underscores Binance’s commitment to providing a comprehensive and versatile trading environment for its diverse user base.
