Companies worldwide operating in Türkiye have leaped into action to assist those harmed by earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş. These firms continue to offer comprehensive aid packages and resources quickly to support earthquake victims throughout the region.
Banking and Crypto World Helps For Earthquake
In response to the massive destruction caused by 11 provinces affected by multiple earthquakes, the World Bank announced a pledge of an incredible 1 billion 780 million dollars in resources to aid recovery and relief efforts. Furthermore, they have allocated $1 billion specifically for those most impacted by these devastating events – those who lost their lives or were injured during this tragedy.
As of 10:25 p.m. on February 11, the incredible employees of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have managed to accumulate £137,795,000 in donations from their ongoing fundraising campaign!
Following the earthquakes that affected 10 provinces within Türkiye, the ICBC Türkiye subsidiary of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) swiftly took action to provide support. In a statement released by the bank, it was confirmed that they have donated 1 million lira in cash aid for those impacted by the quakes.
The Automobile Industry Have Also Helped to Earthquake
In response to the earthquake crisis, Chery Automobile rushed an aid truck filled with immediate necessities, including heaters, blankets, winter quilts, and ready-made food, as well as drinking water for those in need. Knowing that time was of the essence, senior leaders at Chery International issued orders for their subsidiary in Türkiye to immediately purchase $100,000 worth of emergency supplies and have them sent without delay to the disaster zone.
In a generous display of humanity, Mercedes-Benz recently pledged one million euros to the German Red Cross (GRC) to assist with emergency humanitarian aid for those impacted by the devastating earthquake that struck Türkiye and Syria. In addition, an internal fundraising campaign has also been organized among its employees to further contribute towards these efforts.
Technology and Telecommunication Companies Also Announced Their Aid
German telecom company Deutsche Telekom has announced that it will not charge for calls from Germany to Türkiye and Syria until February 15. And not only that, but their customers in those two countries will also enjoy data roaming services at no cost. To top it off, the company has pledged 1 million Euros to “Aktion Deutschland Hilft” for earthquake victims as a grand gesture of goodwill.
Vodafone Türkiye declared a support package for their customers in 13 provinces affected by the disaster. Customers with debts on GSM lines were granted access to urgent communication services and free calls and mobile internet plans offered to AFAD and Vodafone Call Center employees based in the disaster area. Moreover, their Search and Rescue team headed out into the region to help with rescue efforts while aid was provided via the Vodafone Türkiye Foundation for those facing pressing needs.
After the devastating earthquake, Apple CEO Tim Cook took to Twitter to express his condolences and announced that Apple was pledging a donation for relief and rescue efforts. Similarly, Google proclaimed they would also contribute towards recovery operations. In addition, Siemens AG & Healthineers generously donated one million euros and matching donations from employee contributions to assist in emergency activities.
