Amit Singh, a 29-year-old executive at FTX, has been sentenced for his role in a fraud case. Singh pleaded guilty to six criminal counts, including wire fraud and conspiracy, in February. He is the fourth FTX executive to be sentenced in connection to the fraud.
The ringleader of the fraud, FTX CEO Bankman-Fried, was sentenced to 25 years in prison in March. Former FTX Digital Markets CEO Ryan Salame, who did not testify against Bankman-Fried, is currently serving a 7.5 year prison sentence. Caroline Ellison, former Alameda Research CEO and Bankman-Fried’s ex-girlfriend, was sentenced to two years in prison last month. Her sentence was reduced due to her cooperation with prosecutors.
District Judge Lewis Kaplan of the Southern District of New York (SDNY) presided over the case. The sentencing of FTX executives highlights the serious consequences of white-collar crime in the financial industry.
