Former Pump.fun Developer Jailed for Breaching Bail in $2M Crypto Theft Case

Jarett Dunn Faces Legal Challenges Amidst Pump.fun’s ICO Triumph

Renowned for his involvement in the crypto sphere, Jarett Dunn, a former employee of Pump.fun, finds himself embroiled in legal troubles. Dunn has recently been remanded to a London prison due to a breach in his bail conditions, stemming from charges of misappropriating $2 million from the Solana meme coin platform.

The Legal Turmoil of Jarett Dunn: A Possible Plea Acceptance

In the spring of 2024, Jarett Dunn, then a developer at Pump.fun, orchestrated a heist that siphoned off nearly $2 million in SOL, subsequently dispersing the funds across various addresses. These assets were later funneled into wallets associated with Solana meme coins and NFTs, amplifying Dunn’s presence in the crypto community.

Immediately owning up to his actions, Dunn justified his conduct by pointing to a toxic work environment and ethical concerns regarding user funds. Moreover, he leveled serious accusations against Pump.fun, including operating as an unregistered securities exchange and alleged intentions of child exploitation.

Following his arrest, Dunn was granted bail but later attempted to retract his guilty plea in the autumn of 2024. This move led to the dissolution of his legal support, and he was placed under strict bail conditions that confined his movements. Nonetheless, in June 2025, Dunn violated these terms by relocating from London to Liverpool without authorization and tampering with his electronic monitoring device. Consequently, he was promptly detained and now awaits his hearing in a London correctional facility.

Recent communications on Dunn’s X account, managed by his associate Mark Kelly, suggest that Dunn is reconciling with his situation and may reconsider his initial guilty plea.

A Decade of Imprisonment Looms as Pump.fun Achieves ICO Success

In the UK, fraud involving sums exceeding £500,000 ($640,000) can draw a maximum penalty of 10 years. A bail violation can lead to remand pending a hearing or up to an additional year if prosecuted separately. However, mitigating factors such as an early guilty plea and health concerns could potentially influence Dunn’s sentencing.

In contrast, Pump.fun is celebrating a successful initial coin offering (ICO), having secured approximately $600 million. This achievement has propelled the Solana meme coin factory’s valuation to over $6 billion, buoyed by ventures like Moo Deng (MOODENG), Fart Coin (FARTCOIN), and Peanut The Squirrel (PNUT).
