Ethereum Proposal Could Increase Throughput by 50%

An upgrade, known as EIP-7781, is in the works to enhance Ethereum’s ability to handle blobs, which are specialized data storage containers utilized by associated layer-2 networks for storing transaction records. This modification will raise the number of blobs per block from six to nine, creating additional room for layer-2 chains such as Arbitrum and Optimism to upload data onto the Ethereum blockchain.

This upgrade is a significant development for Ethereum, as it will improve the platform’s scalability and efficiency in handling transactions. By increasing the capacity for blobs, Ethereum will be better equipped to support the growing demand for decentralized applications and other services built on its blockchain.

With the implementation of EIP-7781, Ethereum will be able to accommodate a greater volume of data from layer-2 networks, enabling faster and more cost-effective transactions. This upgrade will make Ethereum an even more attractive option for developers and users looking to leverage the platform for various decentralized applications and services.
