Crypto Investigation Uncovers Police Conspiracy in LA—Details

Unveiling the Legal Tangle: Allegations Against Los Angeles County Deputies

In a case that has captured significant attention, two deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department stand accused of conspiring to violate civil rights. This legal drama is intertwined with a crypto entrepreneur known as “The Godfather,” connected to a trading platform named Zort. The details of these charges offer a glimpse into corruption and misconduct, as one officer has already admitted guilt.

Rodriguez’s Alleged Misuse of Authority

According to court documents, 43-year-old Rodriguez, alongside 24-year-old Adam Iza, was involved in illegal activities. Rodriguez reportedly exploited his position to obtain a court-approved search warrant under false pretenses, claiming it was necessary for a robbery investigation in July 2022. This deceitful maneuver allowed him to operate outside the legal framework. Reports suggest Rodriguez also provided dubious services to a private security client, separate from Iza’s dealings. Now facing a potential 10-year prison sentence, Rodriguez has confessed to accepting cash and cryptocurrency as compensation. The U.S. Attorney’s Office has highlighted his misuse of his official capacity, emphasizing that such actions have no place in law enforcement.

Saavedra’s Alleged Tracking and Intimidation Tactics

The legal filings further reveal that Deputy Eric Chase Saavedra collaborated with Rodriguez by using GPS data to track a victim, subsequently intimidating and harassing them. Saavedra has been released on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled for a hearing on November 10. The Department of Justice continues to actively investigate his actions.

Allegations of Armed Intimidation at a Bel Air Mansion

Among the accused is 33-year-old Deputy Christopher Michael Cadman, who has pleaded guilty to his involvement. Cadman allegedly staged a fake traffic stop, pulling over a vehicle in Paramount and brandishing a firearm to coerce a victim outside Iza’s Bel Air residence. The victim was forced to transfer $25,000 to Iza. Cadman later filed inaccurate tax returns for 2022, underreporting his income as $40,500, while evading $11,000 in taxes for the 2021 tax year. The potential legal consequences for Cadman include a lengthy prison term for armed robbery and tax fraud. His plea agreement requires cooperation with ongoing investigations.

Crypto Transactions and Tax Evasion Allegations

Prosecutors allege that Iza’s company disbursed approximately $154,900 in payments to at least one law enforcement officer. Further accusations against Iza include impersonating an FBI agent to forcibly seize digital assets from victims, including an unnamed individual and his girlfriend. Investigators claim that Iza utilized shell companies to conceal about $1.7 million from the IRS between 2020 and 2022. In January, Iza entered a plea agreement with the Department of Justice, facing charges for tax evasion, conspiracy against rights, and wire fraud. A court hearing is scheduled for December 15. Additionally, Iza’s former girlfriend, Iris Ramaya Au, faces charges for concealing his income, potentially leading to a three-year prison sentence for her role in what prosecutors describe as a $2.6 million criminal scheme funding over $10 million in luxury travels.
