SEC Files Notice of Appeal in Case Against Ripple

In a significant development in July 2023, a judge ruled that Ripple had violated federal securities law through its institutional sales of XRP. However, the judge also determined that Ripple’s programmatic sales to retail exchanges did not violate securities rules.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) attempted to file an interlocutory appeal against the motion for summary judgement, but their request was denied by the judge.
