Binance Founder Changpeng ‘CZ’ Zhao Could be Released on Friday

According to the U.S. Department of Justice’s Federal Bureau of Prisons rule, inmates whose release date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday may be released on the last preceding weekday. This rule applies unless there is a need to detain the inmate for another jurisdiction seeking custody under a detainer or for any other valid reason that suggests the inmate should not be released until the scheduled release date.

This rule ensures that inmates are not kept in custody longer than necessary due to administrative constraints related to weekends or holidays. It provides guidance on the release process to ensure that inmates are released in a timely manner while also taking into account other legal obligations that may necessitate a delay in release.

While the primary goal of the Bureau of Prisons is to facilitate the timely release of inmates, exceptions may be made in certain circumstances to ensure public safety or address specific legal requirements. By adhering to this rule, the Bureau of Prisons aims to balance efficiency with legal and procedural considerations to effectively manage inmate releases.
