Comprehensive Overview of Ripple’s XRP Distribution Strategy
In a recent update, SBI Holdings unveiled an XRP distribution chart that offers the crypto community a clearer understanding of Ripple’s extensive management of token reserves. At the heart of this report is an in-depth chart that categorizes the token’s total supply, highlighting circulating coins, Ripple’s reserves, and tokens held in escrow.
Originally shared by renowned XRP analyst Wrath of Kahneman on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), this infographic is rapidly gaining recognition as a trustworthy visual representation of the current state of XRP supply.
Decoding Ripple’s Escrow Approach
The infographic reveals that Ripple’s total XRP supply is capped at 100 billion tokens. As of July 20, 2025, approximately 35.9 billion tokens are secured in escrow, meaning nearly 40% of the total supply is locked under smart contract conditions. These tokens are not freely available for sale or transfer; instead, they follow a predetermined release schedule that ensures a controlled and gradual unlocking process.
This strategy potentially helps Ripple prevent sudden market saturation, which could otherwise lead to abrupt price declines. Wrath of Kahneman, who has been closely monitoring Ripple’s activities for years, hailed the infographic as “the most comprehensive depiction of XRP’s total circulation” upon sharing it.
Beyond the escrowed tokens, the chart indicates that 59.24 billion XRP are actively circulating in the market, freely traded across exchanges and integrated into Ripple’s payment networks. Additionally, around 10 million tokens have been permanently removed from circulation through transaction fees, further reducing the available supply.
Strategic Holding for Long-Term Supply Regulation
Ripple’s strategy also includes an additional reserve of 4.85 billion XRP, which are not in active circulation nor part of the escrow. Although Ripple retains control over these tokens, they are withheld from the open market. As of March 2025, the estimated value of these holdings stood at JPY 13.4 trillion, with subsequent updates elevating this figure to as high as JPY 19.7 trillion.
This distribution chart update coincides with Ripple’s ongoing expansion into global payment systems and exploration of stablecoin ventures. It underscores that a significant portion of Ripple’s XRP supply is either secured in escrow or withheld from circulation, with the remainder already distributed among the public. With renewed interest from investors, precise data regarding the availability and securement of tokens is becoming increasingly essential.
By maintaining nearly 40% of its supply in escrow and implementing a transparent and gradual release mechanism, Ripple demonstrates a commitment to responsible supply management. This transparency can bolster investor confidence, attracting long-term stakeholders while reassuring current holders that the market is unlikely to be flooded or the XRP price disrupted anytime soon.
